Desalination

An Increasingly Important Solution To Help Tackle Water Scarcity

Technologies that provide fresh water for human consumption are essential for societies to flourish.

In areas of the world where there is not enough freshwater available, desalination provides a viable and increasingly cost-effective solution, as part of a wider water management strategy.

Technological advancements have increased the adoption of desalination, with over 150 countries around the world operating desalination facilities. As the challenges brought about by water scarcity rises, so does the need to provide alternative solutions of freshwater provision.

Conventional desalination processes typically include sand filters or dual-media filters as a pre-treatment step to remove algae, silt and other fine particles prior to the reverse osmosis desalination stage. Alternatively, ultrafiltration membranes may be used but they have significantly higher operating costs. FilterClear offers the best of both worlds: a higher quality of filtered water within a smaller footprint than a dual media filter, with low operating costs.
