Why Now

Effective water management is a crucial factor in improving public health, the environment and economic development.

As the UN highlight, water is the primary medium through which we will feel the effects of climate change.

Higher temperatures and more extreme, less predictable, weather conditions are projected to affect availability and distribution of rainfall, snowmelt, river flows and groundwater, and further deteriorate water quality.

Therefore effective water management is a crucial factor in improving public health, the environment and economic development.

The reality is that 1 in 4 people globally do not have access to safe drinking water; nearly half the world lacks safe sanitation.

This is a truly global issue that most acutely affects the developing world.

Learn more about how our technologies are alleviating some of the most pressing water challenges of our time.

We fully support the United Nation’s sustainability goal 6, which commits to

‘ENSURE AVAILABILITY AND SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF WATER AND SANITATION FOR ALL’,

Bluewater Bio’s corporate strategy is underpinned by the following objectives; that clearly state it ‘exceeds performance whilst reducing resource requirements for: municipal customers; adjacent industry sectors; the communities they serve; and the environment within which we all operate.’

THE CLIMATE CRISIS IS A WATER CRISIS.

The United Nations continued efforts highlight some of the major global issues we are facing with regards to our water resources:

  • Global water demand is projected to increase by 20 to 30% by 2050
  • 2.3 billion people live in water-stressed countries, of which 733 million live in high and critically water-stressed countries
  • Today, 1.42 billion people – including 450 million children – live in areas of high or extremely high water vulnerability.
  • 72% of all water withdrawals are used by agriculture, 16% by municipalities for households and services, and 12% by industries
  • About 4 billion people, representing nearly two-thirds of the global population, experience severe water scarcity during at least one month of the year.

TONNES OF WASTE WATER CLEANED

Providing recycled water for irrigation, clean water for our rivers, drinking water for our communities and completing the water cycle in a sustainable way.

TONNES OF WATER AVAILABLE FOR RE-USE

Providing recycled water for irrigation, clean water for our rivers and completing the water cycle in a sustainable way.

TONNES OF POLLUTION REMOVED

Reducing the quantity of organic pollution, solids, nitrogen and phosphorus discharged into our rivers and creating water for re-use.
